Friends of Thorp (FoT) is committed to the health and safety of our Thorp families and our community. In light of the uncertainties surrounding COVID-19, FoT Board of Directors has made the decision to indefinitely postpone the Soaring '20s Gala originally scheduled for April 17, 2020. We are closely following the guidance of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), Chicago Dept. of Public Health, and Chicago Public Schools (CPS) to do our part in mitigating the spread of the coronavirus and encourage everyone to join us in that goal.
In addition, we have also indefinitely postponed the online auction originally set to begin on April 1, as well as the Porretta's dine-out fundraiser on March 25. However, if you have the means you can still help our amazing community by purchasing online gift certificates, ordering take-out or other goods and services from our local businesses that have given so much to Thorp, A few of our outstanding local supporters include: Perkolator, Thrift and Thrive, RepChi, REI Plumbing, Flip Salon, MJ Erectors, Poretta's, Portage Grounds, Gale Street Inn, Tony's, Eli's Cheesecake, Collectiv, Dahlia Blooms, Sicila Bakery, Chicago's Pizza, Community Tavern, Easy Street, Old Irving Brewing, Dark Matter Coffee, Eris, Getheseme Garden Center, Bacci Pizza, Frank's Chicago Shrimp House, MCM Bar, Galvin's Pub, Fannie's, Pete's Pizza, The Nest, Lake Effect Brewing, City News Stand and so many more!
Thank you to everyone who has already donated an item or started on a classroom project. We will hopefully be able to utilize the donations at a future event. Thorp is an amazing and strong community and we know that we will make it through these challenging days and be even stronger than before. Stay well, stay strong, look out for one another and see you on the playground soon!
Thank you to our sponsors and donors! We can't thank them enough for their donations! Please support these generous businesses that support Thorp!

Corporate matching gift programs allow corporations the opportunity to give back to the organizations that their employees are connected with. Each corporate matching gift program is different. Some programs match dollar for dollar, some double the gift, while others only match a certain percentage. To learn more about your company's matching gift program, please contact your Human Resources Department.
"DOLLARS for doers"
Also known as volunteer grants, these corporate giving programs convert your volunteer hours to actual dollars earned for a qualified non-profit organization, such as Friends of Thorp. If you volunteer at Thorp in any capacity, please contact your HR department to find out if your company participates in a "Dollars for Doers" volunteer grant program and designate Friends of Thorp as your non-profit organization.
